A Wednesday was the best among hindi movies that got released in 2008. Infact it is one among the best movies in Indian cinema for the last decade or so.If Naserudhin Shah and Anupam Kher stole the hearts of viewers in A Wednesday, it is the magic show of Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan in Unnai Pol Oruvan. While remaking , many directors have spoiled the original version through improper direction and script. But thankfully no such nonsense here from Chakri Toleti. The movie hasnt spoiled a single bit of the original version.Infact it has contributed a bit more, one would guess.
The film hasnt deviated much from the original version, which is a good thing. In many remade movies we can see unnecessary comic, songs or masala scenes been added, with a justification that it has been done to suit the Tamil audience.Unnai Pol Oruvan hasnt gone for such stuffs.r Chakri Toleti has done 100 % to the original version.. Naserudhin Shah and Anupam Kher will only be pleased seeing the Tamil version.Coming to the film, there is nothing unusual or heroic in the introduction scenes of two titans of Indian cinema. The film straight away goes on to the story, which is a plus point.Every viewer would hold tightly to his seats right from the word go. There is hardly any seen which feels boring. The movie gains its best thrilling moments after the first 15-20 minutes. Even while dealing with a universal and complex theme called terrorism, the movie has not failed in providing the thrill or excitement which viewers would prefer inside the theatre. We can see a very unusual and different hero through Unnai Pol Oruvan as it is in A Wednesday. A hero with no name and no face . The cool and simple nature of the hero deserves a grant applause. . Camera works were too eye catching. Manoj Soni deserves a pat on the back. He visualized the scenarios perfectly. Background music by Shruthi Hassan has been fine. Unnai Pol Oruvan is a stand alone among customary masala Tamil movies. Besides being thrilling, the film conveys a great message in the end . That is the best part of the film. To convey a great message without spoiling the thrill of the story is never an easy job.Coming to the perfomance of the cast, well no one needs to describe how well Kamal Hassan can act. As always he has just been great in this movie. The simple and cool ways of delivering dialogues were well received in the theatre . A complex character was handled calmly and smoothly. Mohanlal as I.G.Raghavan Marrar has done justice to his role . Especially in the climax scene, Mohanlal was too cool. Two extremely complex characters that could have gone anywhere were very well presented by the two great actors of all time. Both characters have a lot of emotions to deliver. But they deliver it in quite an unbelievable manner. Anyone having a doubt regarding how Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan became extremely popular, just switch on to this movie. You will get your answer. Both Mohanlal and Kamal Hassan were in a competition to prove who handled the character in the most coolest manner.Another plus point of the movie is that castings has been spot on. The characters who played the roles, and the man who penned the characters in his script equally deserves the appreciation. The female journalist, the young computer specialist, and the two subordinates of Mohanlal would give us some unforgettable moments.
Unnai Pol Oruvan is not a watch and forget movie. The talks about the film will remain in the mouths of every viewer even as they get out of the theatre. The characters would chase us to the core.It may also set the table for a discussion about the theme it dealt with. All in all Unnai Pol Oruvan is a fabulous movie
